521 Centre Street

521 Centre Street is a 2 1/2 story, 3 bay, rectangular plan, eclectic, brick residential building. Constructed in 1895, the brick house features a slate-clad, side gable roof with shingled, gabled dormers, and multiple window groupings. The porte-cochere on the north side of the house echoes the segmentally arched, openings of the column-supported porch. The brick is half-timbered on the upper stories and on the box bays of the first floor. The house belonged to J.W. Combs in 1904 and to Gilbert W.T. Combs, a New York executive, in 1928. The present owners believe the house was designed b y Stanford White.
