565 Berkeley Avenue
565 Berkeley Avenue (AKA 8 Keasbey Road) is a 2 story, 5 bay, irregular plan, brick, Colonial Revival, residential building. Constructed c. 1900, the slate-clad, hipped roof house is set at a perpendicular to Keasbey Road, and is approached through either a driveway at Keasbey or through the driveway at 555 Berkeley Avenue.
The northern facade is articulated by a parapet, paneled chimneys, round-arched pedimented surround, 6/6 windows, brick sills and keystoned lintels. The southern elevation is dominated by a pair of two story, semi-hexagonal bays. A brick retaining wall forms a terrace around the west and south elevations. The house is located in an estate setting, and is approached through a driveway framed with brick piers inscribed “Holmwood.”
This is the former estate of Henry M. Keasbey.
